TMI In Holland

The Motion Initiative has expanded in to Holland. This ministry started 3 years ago when God filled Brad Spooner with a desire to take his love of cycling and the TMI methodology to a specific neighborhood in Holland, MI. Since that time, Brad has attracted many volunteers and has been able to find financial sponsores to support the ministry. Most importantly, Brad and the new Holland crew have served over a 100 youth through the outlet of biking in the name of Jesus.  I asked Brad to give a little bio of himself. –   (Here you go)

I am an avid cyclist, father, and husband who loves Jesus Christ. And by His grace, I am able to serve in the United In Christ Ministry by combining these passions. The Motion Initiative, an outreach ministry of UICM, serves urban youth in Grand Rapids using bicycles to connect and build mentoring relationships.  Three years ago I was able to lead the expansion of this great ministry to Holland.  As the director, we have been able to serve youth in the Holland Heights area for two years.  We have partnered, since the beginning, with the Heights of Hope organization in order to join forces to improve the lives of the youth in the Stratford Way Neighborhood.  Since the expansion, we have been able to connect with over one hundred youth and fix their bicycles on mobile bike shop nights.  Last year, by generous donations, we started a ride program to take the youth mountain biking and explore the world outside of the neighborhood.   The ministry has been blessed with talented volunteers who share the same passion for kids.  As we start our third year in Holland, we are growing the ride program and increasing mentoring opportunities to grow deeper with the kids.  God has a wonderful plan for this neighborhood and I am so excited to see what is to come.  Join in on His plan!

Praise God, for building upon the irony “of a chain leading to freedom”.
